What does Occupiers' liability mean?

The duty of those who occupy property owed to visitors or trespassers to the property.

A common law duty arises for one to take reasonable care that a visitor will be reasonably safe; the scope of the duty is narrower in relation to trespassers. In both cases the duty is codified by statute.
