Thank you for your instructions to act on [insert description of matter]. We have written to you separately with a [Client care OR Engagement] letter and our terms of business. The purpose of this letter is to explain our professional obligations in relation to conflicts of interest and Confidentiality and to ensure we have your informed consent before proceeding to act.

Professional obligations

We are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). As part of our professional obligations, we are unable to act if there is a conflict (or a significant risk of conflict) between our separate duties to act in the best interests of two or more clients in the same or a related matter—unless one of two limited exceptions applies. These exceptions apply where our clients:

  1. •

have a substantially common interest in relation to the matter or particular aspect of it, or

  2. •

are competing for the same objective

Is there an actual or potential conflict
