B6.705 ATED—charge to tax
This article covers the circumstances in which a charge to ATED arises. For details of the person liable to the tax see B6.706 and for the amount of tax chargeable see B6.707.
The following conditions must apply on any day (a 'chargeable day') for ATED to be charged for a 'chargeable period' which includes that day1:
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý an interest (referred to as a 'single-dwelling interest' or SDI, see B6.720) in a UK dwelling (see B6.725 onwards) exists of taxable value (see B6.709) greater than £500,000, and
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý a company, partnership or collective investment scheme meets the ownership condition in relation to that interest
