Managing agents
The managing agent is required to make an annual return of the profit or loss for each year of account for each syndicate for which they act1.
The return must be made by 1 July in the underwriting year following the closing year or, if later, within three months of the date on which HMRC issues a notice requiring a return2.
HMRC can require a general insurer to provide a report in respect of the technical provisions stated in their accounts (see E5.605)3. These rules apply to the Lloyd's syndicate returns and thus to the managing agents of syndicates.
